Boiling grievance

Wed Oct 14, 2009, 1:33 PM
I wrote this in a list of things I hate awhile back:
"VAMPIRES. I was in Creative Writing II in High School because I'd had Creative Writing I already and my teacher was awesome. What Creative Writing II had to do (other than dick around on the internet for 50 minutes) was EDIT the poetry, short stories, and what have you for the Creative Writing I Class (because they were at the same time because there were 3 kids in CW II). We had to read at least 3 terrible Vampire-meets-young-lady-turns-young-lady-into-vampire-eternal-love-goth-fishnets-black-lipstick stories that were over 4 pages long, single-spaced. So..

I HATE VAMPIRES NOW. FOREVER. I didn't like Anne Rice before, but after Creative Writing I WILL SLIT THAT BITCH'S THROAT IF I SEE HER. (my one exception that I can think of is Alucard from Hellsing, but that bitch fights Nazis, no comparison) Vampires are fucking killing the written word."

That was before Stephanie Meyer came along and painted new levels of suck (PUN?!?!) on to what was to me (these are opinions not empirical-goddamn-facts) an already overworked genre with a huge potential for bad. I feel bad now for those girls who wrote that terrible stuff I had to edit in high school, because they could be millionaires now. Actually, maybe they are. I've never seen Stephanie Meyer, maybe she is all three of those girls and I got a "first look" at some now priceless manuscripts. The joke is thus on me and the two other kids who had to go outside to edit, what amounted to some poor teenager's weird sexual fantasies, because we were laughing so hard.

Also, Anne Rice is some kind of devout, vampire-denying Christian now or something, which makes my passionate declaration on her life a few years ago a bit toothless. You know: like when Dustin Hoffman finds out that Robin Williams isn't really Peter Pan anymore. Whatever, I probably would have only shook her hand if I saw her anyway.

I really just wanted to get that other journal down. Also: waste some time.
